Overview
The demo patient allows you to gain experience with MAPflow’s platform and algorithms, helping you gain confidence or refresh your memory before assessments. In this article, you’ll learn how to use the demo patient to practice a minor ailment assessment for an uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI). We recommend that you use the information below as extra guidance while following along with your own UTI assessment.
How to Get Started with a Demo Assessment
- From your dashboard, select New Assessment.
- In the patient search field, locate and select the demo patient.
- Select New Assessment to continue.
- From the list of ailments, select Urinary Tract Infection.
How to Set Up Your Assessment Parameters
- Choose your assessment mode. Pro mode offers a more concise and streamlined approach, whereas Standard mode is more comprehensive. Consider practicing with each assessment mode.
- Indicate how the assessment is taking place (in-person, virtual, etc.).
- Confirm patient eligibility by reviewing and selecting all applicable eligibility requirements.
- Select Create Assessment to begin.
How to Navigate the Assessment Interface
MAPflow's intuitive interface makes completing assessments straightforward:
- The left side of your screen displays your progress through the five assessment steps.
- Toggle on Extra Guidance anytime you need additional information.
- Access relevant CPS chapters directly by selecting the CPS icon (if you've set up this integration).
Smart Features that Enhance Your Workflow
As you work through the assessment, you'll notice several helpful features:
- Tooltips provide additional context and information.
- Red indicators appear when hovering over options that would require patient referral.
- Dynamic algorithms adjust questions based on previous responses (for example, questions about spermicide products appear when "sexually active" is selected).
- Intelligent recommendations are provided based on your inputs (such as automatically selecting "uncomplicated UTI" when appropriate).
- Provincial coverage information appears directly in the assessment when selecting medications.
- Automatic service recommendations like tobacco cessation programs when relevant.
- Auto-selected counseling points based on prescribed medications.
Once you've completed all sections, simply select Save and Next, then Confirm under Assessment Complete.
Practice Makes Perfect
If your screen looked different from what was described, it's likely because MAPflow has developed province-specific algorithms, and settings may vary based on your location.
We encourage you to:
- Practice with different minor ailments using the DEMO patient.
- Try both Pro and Standard assessment modes to see which works best for different scenarios.
- Include your team members in practice sessions to ensure everyone is comfortable with the platform.
